Real Madrid’s star midfielder Jude Bellingham has revealed the names of players who can win the Golden Boy award in the future.
Last month, Bellingham won the Golden Boy award for the year 2023 following his astonishing performances with his current and previous club, Borussia Dortmund, throughout the year.
“I will say three names. First of all, Arda Güler, is a phenomenon, we see him training and we are delighted with him. Then my former teammate Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, from Borussia Dortmund. And finally, my brother Jobe,” Bellingham told Tuttosport.
It must be noted that Bellingham will receive the Golden Boy Award in Turin on Monday night.
The Golden Boy award is presented to the best footballer under the age of 21 each year and was introduced in 2003 by the Italian outlet Tuttosport. Big names like Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Mario Gotze, Paul Pogba and most recently, Barcelona's Pablo Gavi, have clinched the award.
“I want to thank my Real Madrid teammates and the entire squad, Mr. Ancelotti, the president, my family, my mother Denise, my father Mark, my younger brother Jobe, the friends who have bombarded me and pleasantly flooded me, with messages of congratulations and who continue to do so. Without all these people, without their help on and off the field, their constant encouragement and without ever forgetting the fans that support me, I would not have been able to win the Golden Boy,” Bellingham added.
However, he admitted that he is disappointing Ancelotti when it comes to speaking Spanish.
“I know that I am disappointing him [Ancelotti] in one aspect... I still don't speak Spanish. I'm sorry, but I'm encountering unexpected obstacles with this language. It's difficult for me, I admit it. In any case, I promise the maximum commitment, guaranteed,” he said.
“I put my efforts and a fierce commitment to improve myself with the work, but the merit is for Mr. Ancelotti who found the right position for me and gave me more freedom on the pitch,” he added.
